Chef’s CPR, First Aid Training with RED CROSS

We are really proud to work with the Red Cross, and this year we organized a chef's first aid training specifically for the chefs. We think it’s critical that we always improve the safety knowledge of our staff. Once we are on our way to Machu Picchu, regardless of the trek, they will often be the only people available to help us during an emergency.

Our chefs are educated in how to provide immediate care in cardiac, respiratory and first aid emergencies. This includes how to evacuate people from any trek until advanced medical personnel arrive, or until we get to the nearest clinic. They also provide support for our team of porters and their own families.

Our tour guides receive first aid training with the RED CROSS every February – all Inti Trek tour guides are required to attend. While on the trail, they will carry a first aid kit for basic medical problems (diarrhea, headache, cuts, scrapes, etc.) and oxygen bottle. Not only are they there to guide you, but they always have your health in mind. All throughout the day, our guides are paying close attention to your physical and mental state. Many times we know something is wrong before you do. We are here to take care of you and make sure you have the best experience ever.
