Tours leave every Monday through Saturday from 8:30pm to 3:00pm
On Sundays from 9:00am to 3:30pm
We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:20:00am Then we will travel for one hour to the salt mines of Maras. At Maras you will see the pans that are built on steep terraces along one side of a narrow valley and fed by saline spring water that emerges from the rock close to the head of the valley. The water is sent throughout the pans by a network of channels. Salt has been collected from Maras since Pre-Incan times, and it is thought that a collective of salt 'miners' has maintained the terraces and channels for many hundreds of years.
We will then countinue the journey to Moray in order to see the fascinating site used by the Incas for agricultural experiments and cultivating seeds. There you can learn how they cleverly devised a drainage system at the bottom to avoid flooding during the rainy season.
On our return to Cusco, we will stop in Chinceros, a town where the local people will give you the best demonstration of how the wool is washed and dyed using plants and minerals. You will have time in Chincheros for a quick visit the famous church and archeological site, and will arrive back in Cusco at about 2:30-3:00pm.
