Our group of 6 had a fantastic experience with Inti Sun Trek. Jesus was very prompt in responding to emails. The rental sleeping bags and poles made it easily to travel lightly to Peru. The pre-trek orientation was very useful and got us even more excited to start the trek.
We set out on new year's day --a fantastic way to kick off the new year. Our guide Carlos was very funny and introduced use to our new favorite game "personalities." The days of hiking were amazing! Long days, but with nice snacks and well timed breaks. Carlos was very knowledgeable about the ruins we saw along the way. I so impressed by our strong group of 10 porters, who greeted us warmly when we arrived in camp each day. Fernando our chef and his assistants Eliseo and Cristobal provided excellent meals and courteous service. (Also enjoyed meeting Saturnino, Santos, Jesus, Francisco I and II, Victor, Emilio) The mushroom ceviche was a favorite! The papaya turtle was also memorable.
Hiking the Inca Trail in 3 days allowed us to arrive in Machu PIcchu on the 3rd evening before dark. It was surreal and mystical to see MP for the first time from the Sun Gate through the clouds. We took some great pictures as we descended to MP, which was nearly quiet and nearly deserted at that time of night. (This was a nice contrast to touring MP the next day amidst the many tourists). We stayed in a hostal the 3rd night and enjoyed the tour of MP led by Carlos on day 4. The train ride home was also very entertaining.
In summary, Inti Sun Trek provided excellent service, thoughtful touches and great food & accomodations. I really enjoyed their staff and would highly recommend them for their attention to detail and smooth communication. Can't wait until the next IntiSun adventure!
